Performance Metrics

BYB IQ

BYB IQ is the rating you get at the end of each session. It is determined by your performance (Total Score) and the Difficulty Factor of the session.

Total Score: This metric shows the overall performance achieved in a scenario. To calculate the total score, the average of the following scores is taken: scan rate, scan timing, critical scan, awareness and the decision score.

Difficulty Factor: measures a session’s level of difficulty. It is based upon the Game Speed, Game Mode and the amount of scores being calculated in a scenario. This metric ranges from 0.1 (easiest) to 1.45 (most difficult). Game Speed is the pace at which the game takes place. It is predetermined and will increase as you advance through the levels and leagues. The game speed ranges from 50% to 120%, with 100% the speed of a real life game.

Decision Score

A player faces numerous choices regarding the next move on the field. To quantify these decisions, our team of football experts has ranked specific actions within each scenario, with higher scores indicating superior decision-making. This score is determined by ranking various scenarios, where the best decision earns a perfect score of 100%. Lesser scores are assigned to good but not optimal decisions. It's important to note that decisions can be objective, as different players and coaches may have distinct training styles.

Tips:

Awareness Score

The Awareness Score is a measurement of how well a player retains information. It shows the percentage of the correct answers across all Awareness Tests that occurred during a session. The awareness tests your ability to remember what you see when you scan and to make sure you look for players and spaces when you scan.

Scan Rate

Scan Rate is the number of scans performed in a second. It is calculated by dividing the total number of scans by the game duration. Players that scan more have a better understanding of their surroundings, and research shows they are more likely to retain the ball and make more successful forward passes.

Scan Timing Score

Scan Timing is the ratio of good scans to the total number of scans. Good scans, in this context, refer to scans between teammates’ touches of the ball. Bad scans, in this context, refer to scans performed while a teammate is kicking or receiving a ball. Performing a scan at the wrong time can mean you lose track of the ball. E.g if someone plays a pass with their first touch.

Critical Scan Score

A critical scan is a scan that is made as the ball is travelling towards you. The Critical Scan Score is the ratio of critical scans performed to all ball receivals. Performing the critical scan gives the player the most up-to-date picture of their surroundings before receiving the ball, which in turn can be used to make better decisions.

Scan Symmetry

Scan Symmetry assesses a player’s tendency to scan either right or left. The values range from -1 to +1, with a negative value indicating a preference for the left side and a positive value for the right side. A score of 0 indicates that the player evenly scans both left and right. It's essential to consider the player's position and the game state, as these factors influence scan symmetry. Additionally, note that a score of 0 doesn't necessarily represent the optimal scanning behavior.

Rating

Rating reflects a user’s current performance and determines their placement within a specific League or Division. A user’s Rating can change over time based on the outcome of a Career Session.
